NM "GATE AND STUCCO" SOLD

Stucco is fun......many colors, ever changing.  I did 'dog visits' here nearly daily, walking Max and being amazed  at how weather and seasons change everything.

LOTUS photograph NFS

Took the photo few mos ago..........during Lavender Festival at Los Poblanos in Albuquerque.  The Lotus pond is breathtaking with blossoms  big as huge cantalopes......all in various stages of opening as the sun comes over.  It's easy to see how the Lotus has become such a spiritual symbol.   Happy painting out there !

ABOUT ME

My first art memory is finger painting in grade school, where I experienced making 'mud' long before learning the concept in art classes....I just wondered why all the pretty colors turned to gray. I pretty much did the 50's thing after school......nursing career, marriage and having my wonderful musician, pilot, super techy, son Brian. Art awakenings began in those 'crazy' middle years.  Reading and doing the exercises in Julia Cameron's "The Artists Way" (not once but three times) was a huge jumpstart.I've studied with Jan Keefer and Howard Wexler in Albuquerque, NM...learning much from both. Also studied with Susan Sarback in Fair Oaks CA...her first book "Capturing Radiant Color in Oil" was a great learning and inspiration along with her school (School of Light and Color).  She studied several years at The Cape Cod School under Henry Hensche. More recently I've been inspired by the many online resources available..........You Tube, Jerry's Artaramma, and endless numbers of painters willing to share lots of good stuff.  Some of my favoite websites.........john ebersberger.com..........przewodek.com.....mike rooney studios.com....sovek .com.     Charles Sovek says, at the end of his book "Oil Painting, Developing Your Natural Ability"......in essence.....you've done the lessons, now forget them and paint.    That's my goal!    Would like hearing from you painters out there.

INSPIRATION

Was 'talking' with Lucie yesterday (photo above)........yes my little poodle. She came to me 4 mos ago as  a rescue (lapdogrescue.org)  and teaches me bunches about everything everyday. So sitting with her I glance out the window and see a painting......potted plant on patio wall and it's 3pm so today at 3 will give it a go and good or bad will post it tomorrow.....promise to myself (as I tend to put off doing nice things for myself!)     My mantra these days......just do it.  How do you keep inspired my closet artist friends?

"VISTA GRANDE ll" 8"x10" O/C NFS

Decided overnite to change blog name, which is pretty confusing to this newbie blogger. The painting is 8"x10" in water mix. oils and one I like tho it's tighter work than I aspire to...parts I really liked were the 'accidents'...background trees that are mainly the original block-in, not fussed over or 'thought' too much. The greenery is not typical of here in Rio Ranch NM but remindsme of growing up in Pa.   Watched a fine PBS show this morning...."Passports and Palettes".....artists I like.....Kevin MacPherson, Ken Backhaus  and more. Kevin did a super oil study of an Italian Riviera beach   (sigh)

New Beginnings

Never too late to start........this is my first blog posting (now that wasn't so bad!).....hopes for my art on the rise. My huge big thanks to Mike Rooney (mikerooneystudios.blogspot.com) who is always willing to share his artist's journey in ways that make me know that doing my art is  possible. Grazie MR. His blog has info on blogging and selling art not to mention bunches of beautiful paintings.              Will keep this brief and promise myself that tomorrow....for sure.....will post a painting.   Here's to my closet painter friends.........happy painting  .  Would love to hear from you   F
